Even though I paid little attention Broken Social Scene when they broke big (I’m fairly certain I’ve heard them lots, I still couldn’t pick one of their songs out of a line-up), I decided to adopt this tome as my weekly lunchbreak read (someone sold it to my store).
It was an inoffensive read all-in-all, but man, the band members themselves come off as insufferable and out-of-touch.
I youtubed some BSS stuff afterwards, and wow! It’s like the biggest coffee shop band ever. Particularly painful youtubing included seeing main man Kevin Drew (who claims Jeff Buckley as an influence…see what I mean by coffee shop?) performing live with Tom Cochrane! And, even though he’s promoting his solo record, Drew’s still touring under the Broken Social Scene moniker…he may be annoying, but he ain’t stupid.
Boring Sycophantic Scene more like it.
Har, har.
